Frequently asked questions

Questions about family law

Can we get divorced without going to trial?

Yes, if you both agree. With minor children, the agreement is approved by the court; without minor children, it can also be signed before a notary.

With joint custody, is child maintenance paid?

It depends mainly on each parent's income. If incomes are similar, there is usually no maintenance; if there's a big difference, the judge may set it.

Can the divorce ruling be changed?

Yes, if circumstances have changed significantly, through an application to vary the arrangements or a new agreement approved by the court.
