International family law
When partners have different nationalities or one of them lives outside Spain, every step comes with an extra question: which law applies, which court decides and how the ruling is enforced in another country.

Frequently asked questions
Questions about international family law
My partner lives in another country. Where do we get divorced?
It depends on where you live or have lived and on each person's nationality. European rules decide which court has jurisdiction and which law applies; we look at your specific case.
Can I move to another country with my children?
Not without the other parent's consent or a court's permission. Moving without permission can be considered international child abduction.
Can maintenance be collected if the other parent lives abroad?
Yes. There are cooperation mechanisms between countries to recognise the decision and claim payment in the country where they live.
