Hidden defects
You buy a house or a car and soon afterwards a serious defect appears that was already there but couldn't be seen. The law lets you undo the purchase or ask for a price reduction. The deadlines for claiming depend on where and how you bought, so it's best to get advice as soon as the defect appears.

Questions about hidden defects
How long do I have to claim for a hidden defect?
It depends on which law applies to your purchase: the deadline is not the same in every Spanish region. Because it can be short, it's best to get advice as soon as the defect appears.
What can I ask the seller for?
To undo the purchase and get your money back, or keep the item and ask for a price reduction. If the seller knew about the defect and kept quiet, damages as well.
Why send a burofax?
Because it provides reliable proof of the claim and its date. It's the first step in claiming from the seller and later serves as evidence.
